This is the first year the National Specialty Australian Shepherd Club of America has held its national competition in Albany, but it may not be the last.
The competition, now in its 46th year, moves around the United States. It was in Tennessee in 2015 and has Texas on deck for 2017.
But people competing in the various divisions at the Linn County Fair & Expo Center this week said they like Albany’s facility enough to suggest it again.
The Willamette Australian Shepherd Club is hosting the event. Regi Bryant, who chairs this year’s conformation division, said it made sense to pick Albany this year because her mother, ASCA National’s Chairperson and Senior Breeder Conformation Judge Ronda Silveira, lives in Scio.
